Epitope retrieval: Staining of formalin fixed, paraffin embedded tissue sections is significantly enhanced by pretreatment with Proteinase K.
Staining procedure: Incubate this antibody with tissue section for 30-60 minutes at room temperature. Follow the instructions from the selected detection system.
Storage: Store at 2-8°C. Do not use after expiration date.
Background: EpCAM (epithelial cell adhesion molecule, surface glycoprotein) is expressed in normal epithelial cells and in carcinomas. These antibodies are used (as part of antibody panels) for the differential diagnosis of adenocarcinoma and mesothelioma, basal cell carcinoma and squamous skin cancer. Antibodies can also be used to detect micrometastases in the lymph nodes in patients with esophageal carcinoma.
