Assay Principle

The Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE-II)-EIA is an antibody screening test. ACE-II enzyme has been pre-coated onto a microtiter plate. During the first incubation the anti-ACE-II-antibodies of the samples are immobilized on the plate. The autoantibodies are detected with a HRP labeled antihuman IgG antibody. In the following enzymatic substrate reaction the intensity of the colour correlates with the concentration and/ or avidity of anti-ACE-II antibodies.

Additional Information

Assay Background

Angiotensin-Converting-Enzyme 2 (ACE-II) is a zinc containing metalloenzyme expressed on endothelial and other cells. ACE-II is an enzyme expressed by cells in the lungs, arteries, heart, kidney, and intestines. ACE-II lowers blood pressure by catalysing the hydrolysis of angiotensin II (Ang-II) into angiotensin (1–7). ACE-II counters the activity of the related angiotensin-converting enzyme by reducing Ang-II and increasing Ang(1-7).
