EndoCAb IgA ELISA kit

Endotoxin-core antibodies, also known as EndoCab antibodies, are antibodies directed against conserved components of the core region of bacterial lipopolysaccharide (LPS), an endotoxin found in the outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria. Circulating levels of anti-endotoxin core antibodies can change in response to exposure to endotoxin and may reflect interactions between the immune system and bacterial endotoxin. Changes in antibody levels, including decreases following major surgical procedures, have been investigated as potential indicators of endotoxin exposure and immune response. EndoCab IgA measurements can therefore provide information about the antibody response to endotoxin in biological samples.

In research settings, EndoCab IgA is used to investigate antibody responses to endotoxin under a variety of experimental conditions. Studies can evaluate the ability of plasma components to neutralize LPS in vitro or investigate the kinetics of anti-endotoxin antibodies in vivo. Measurement of EndoCab IgA can also be used to study changes in antibody levels following surgery, infection, inflammation, or other conditions associated with endotoxin exposure. These measurements can help researchers characterize the relationship between endotoxin exposure and the host immune response.

In clinical research, changes in circulating anti-endotoxin core antibody levels have been investigated in patients undergoing major surgery and in conditions associated with systemic endotoxin exposure or inflammation. Reduced antibody levels following surgery have been proposed to reflect consumption or redistribution of antibodies in response to increased endotoxin exposure, although the clinical significance of these changes may vary between populations and study conditions. EndoCab® standard median units (MU) are arbitrary units based on median values established from healthy adults in a particular population. Because normal endotoxin-core antibody levels may vary between populations and geographic regions, researchers should establish appropriate local reference or control groups and include suitably selected comparison groups or healthy individuals in experimental studies.
