Mouse Anti-Human NOS1/nNOS Monoclonal IgG2a Antibody
Neuronal nitric oxide synthase (NOS1 or nNOS) is a constitutive enzyme responsible for producing nitric oxide (NO), a gaseous neurotransmitter involved in synaptic plasticity, neurovascular coupling, and neuroprotection. NOS1 catalyzes the oxidation of L-arginine to L-citrulline and NO, modulating intracellular signaling cascades. In neurodegenerative diseases, dysregulated NOS1 activity contributes to oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, and excitotoxicity. Excessive NO production can lead to peroxynitrite formation and protein nitration, exacerbating neuronal injury. Targeting NOS1 and its downstream pathways offers potential for therapeutic intervention in conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and ALS.
