Mouse Anti-Rat Nav1.8 Monoclonal IgG2a Antbody

Nav1.8 is a tetrodotoxin-resistant voltage-gated sodium channel encoded by the SCN10A gene and is selectively expressed in peripheral sensory neurons, particularly nociceptors. It is critical for the transmission of noxious stimuli and contributes to the upstroke of action potentials in pain pathways.

Nav1.8 is implicated in inflammatory and neuropathic pain, and its selective expression outside the central nervous system makes it a promising target for analgesic development. Unlike other sodium channels, Nav1.8 remains active at lower temperatures, supporting its role in cold-induced pain.

While not directly linked to central neurodegeneration, chronic pain and peripheral nerve dysfunction are increasingly recognized as contributors to cognitive decline and neuroinflammation. Targeting Nav1.8 may therefore have indirect benefits in managing neurodegenerative disease symptoms.
