EagleBio’s Complement Assays are for Research Use only in the US. Not to be used for diagnostic procedures.

Eagle Biosciences’ Oxidative Stress Assay Kit line offers a complete group consisting of numerous valuable products for assisting scientists in fields of research such as diabetes, cancer, aging, and other similar areas of study.

Some of the most valuable kits in our Oxidative Stress Kit line are the Complement ELISA Assays which are unique, simple, objective, and effective methods for assessing the function of complement activity. Individually, each of these assays: Complement System Screen ELISA, Classical Pathway ELISA, MBL Pathway ELISA, and Alternative Pathway ELISA offer a variety of advantages over other competing kits such as ease of use and maximum accuracy. Collectively, this comprehensive line provides researchers with a kit for every complement research need by the ability to measure the three pathways separately or all three pathways together in one kit.

Why Measure Complement Activity with EagleBio’s Kits?

Evaluation of total complement function is essential in laboratory testing of the human complement system. Measuring all three pathways is the sure way to provide and accurate assessment of:

      • Complement activity of each individual pathway (Classical, MBL, Alternative)
      • Complement activity of the system as a whole
      • Individual and collective ability of pathways to perform various biological activities within the functional innate immune system.

EagleBio’s Complement Assays Kits are the only kits in the market to provide a complete picture of complement function.

Key Advantages of EagleBio’s Complement Assay Kit Line:

      • Simple ELISA methods vs cumbersome hemolytic assay methods of other competing assay lines. Our ELISAs provide amazing simplicity for several aspects:

        • Test Procedure
        • Result Interpretation
        • Automation
        • Standardization
      • Innovative and uniformly designed Complement Screen ELISA Kit to assess the whole complement system (all three pathways: Classical, MBL, Alternative) in one simple ELISA.
      • 3 Uniquely designed kits for measuring each individual pathway (Classical, MBL, Alternative) vs most competing kits that measure the Terminal Complement Complexes (TCC) as a measure of activity.

Product Highlights: IGFBP-6 ELISA

IGFBP-6 ELISA is for Research Use Only

Eagle
Biosciences’ Endocrine Assay Kit Line that consists of a comprehensive
product grouping of unique and sensitive assays for measuring a variety of
analytes for diabetes and obesity research. Our IGFBP-6 ELISA is one of the exceptional assays in this Endocrine Assay Kit Line that offers a reliable method for
measuring IGFBP-6 concentrations in serum, plasma and cell culture
supernatants.

Why Measure IGFBP-6?

Insulin-like
Growth Factor Binding protein 6 (IGFBP-6) has been identified to be a selective
inhibitor of IGF-II activities such as proliferation, survival and
differentiation of cells. According to a recent publication, Bach, L. this marker
has been shown to have a number of IGF-independent actions, involving promotion
of apoptosis in some cells and inhibition of angiogenesis. It is because of these roles that IGFBP-6
should be studied further in various fields of research[1].

EagleBio’s IGFBP-6 ELISA allows secure and reproducible measurement of IGFBP-6 in
human body fluids and is a suitable tool for the study of IGFBP-6 in growth,
cancer and bone metabolism.

Key Advantages of EagleBio’s IGFBP-6
ELISA:

  • Excellent specificity
  • High sensitivity
  • Wide dynamic Range
  • Small sample size

A new study gives the strongest evidence yet that obesity surgery can cure diabetes. Patients who had surgery to reduce the size of their stomachs were five times more likely to see their diabetes disappear over the next two years than were patients who had standard diabetes care, according to Australian researchers.

An Esoteric Kit for Measurement of Functional, Receptor
Binding Leptin levels in Serum or Plasma

Nashua, NH January 25, 2016: Eagle Biosciences today announced the launch
of a new assay, Functional
Leptin ELISA. This assay was
developed and manufactured by Mediagnost
in Germany. Mediagnost offers a wide
range of top-notch biotechnology services and products which include test
systems for multiple applications with a strong focus in the fields of
infectious diseases, endocrinology, and neurology.

“We are certainly excited to have yet another great product from
Mediagnost to offer our customers to further support their endocrinology
research needs. Eagle Biosciences continues to improve and expand its assay
portfolio searching for esoteric assay kits like, Functional
Leptin ELISA,” said Dan Keefe, President of Eagle Biosciences.

“This assay is not only a sensitive and specific, but it
also provides results within 4 hours. Functional
Leptin ELISA is based on immobilized soluble leptin receptor and a highly specific
polyclonal antibody, allowing researchers to measure biologically active /
receptor binding leptin only.” Keefe continued, “These features certainly make
this kit a great addition to the Endocrine Assay Kit Line
at Eagle Biosciences.”

Adipose-specific Vdr deletion alters body fat and enhances mammary epithelial density

Study Summary:

The objective of this study was to examine the role of Vitamin D Receptor (VDR) in adipose tissue with a strong focus on the mammary gland. Vitamin D status has been associated with obesity, metabolic syndrome and several cancers such as colon and breast. It is known that adipocytes express VDR and obesity is a known risk factor for cancer. Researchers performing this study sought to explore the intricacies of adipocytes, the actions of vitamin D in adipose tissue, and how they may contribute to its cancer protective effects.

The results of this study revealed that Vdr in mature adipocytes alters the metabolic response to high fat diets and exerts anti-proliferative effects on the mammary epithelium.

A recent study at the Queensland University of Technology in Australia revealed that light exposure plays a role in the weight of preschool children. Researchers studied children aged three to five, from six Brisbane childcare centers. At time 1, they measured children’s sleep, activity and light exposure for a two week period, along with height and weight to calculate their BMI, then followed up 12-months later.

PhD student, Cassandra Pattinson explained,”The circadian clock — also known as the internal body clock — is largely driven by our exposure to light and the timing of when that happens. It impacts on sleep patterns, weight gain or loss, hormonal changes and our mood.”

The findings of this research suggested that exposure to different types of light (both artificial and natural) at different times now needs to be part of the conversation about the weight of children. Read More

Aqueous Fraction of Beta vulgaris Ameliorates Hyperglycemia in Diabetic Micedue to Enhanced Glucose Stimulated InsulinSecretion, Mediated by Acetylcholine and GLP-1, and Elevated Glucose Uptake viaIncreased Membrane Bound GLUT4Transporters.

Study Summary:

The objective of this study was designed to investigate the probable mechanisms of anti-hyperglycemic activity of B. Vulgaris. According to Yanarda G R et al. in Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology,Beta vulgaris subsp. Cicla, also known as Chard, is a leafy green vegetable, with a red stalk and is widely consumed throughout the world. It has been traditionally used as an anti-hyperglycemic nutritional supplement in Turkey. Nutrition therapy is an important part of diabetes self-management education.

It is widely known that plant extracts often contain a large amount of carbohydrates, which are eventually digested to glucose, hence, might be the principal stimulus for insulin secretion. Therefore, this study has been designed to identify the non-glucose stimulants that might be responsible for any enhancement in level of insulin secretions observed. For this study, they had chosen a total of 10 hormones, based on their established significance in insulin secretion.
