RAB3D is a member of the Rab family of small GTPases involved in regulated exocytosis. It plays a role in vesicle trafficking from the trans-Golgi network and is essential for protein secretion in various cell types.

Although best known for its function in osteoclast-mediated bone resorption, RAB3D is also expressed in the nervous system, where it may influence synaptic vesicle dynamics and neurotransmitter release.
