Thymulin ELISA Kit

$2,265.00

The Thymulin ELISA Kit is intended for the quantitative determination of diamine oxicdase activity in serum and plasma. For research use only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.

Thymulin is a nonapeptide hormone secreted by the thymus, known primarily for its immune-regulating properties. It becomes biologically active only when bound to zinc, forming a zinc-thymulin complex. Thymulin exerts its primary effects on T-lymphocytes and their precursor stem cells, promoting their differentiation and function, thus playing a critical role in the maturation of the adaptive immune system.

Beyond immunomodulation, thymulin also serves as a link between the immune, endocrine, and central nervous systems. Its secretion is regulated by the pituitary gland, suggesting a feedback loop between thymic peptides and systemic hormonal balance. This dual role makes thymulin of interest in both immunological research and neuroendocrine studies.

In clinical research settings, thymulin is investigated for its potential use in immune deficiencies, autoimmune conditions, and as an immunorestorative agent in aging or chronically ill patients. Its dependency on zinc also highlights its relevance in nutritional and metabolic disorders where zinc deficiency might impair immune function through reduced thymulin activity.
