The Human Interleukin-6 (IL-6) ELISA Kit is a validated sandwich enzyme immunoassay designed for the quantitative measurement of IL-6 in human serum, plasma (EDTA, heparin, citrate), cell culture supernatants, and urine. The assay meets international quality standards (ICH/FDA/EMEA) and uses highly purified, epitope-mapped antibodies with human serum-based standards and controls to ensure accuracy and reliability. It detects both natural and recombinant forms of IL-6, a cytokine known for its role in immune regulation and inflammation.
The assay functions through a series of precise binding and washing steps that form an antibody “sandwich” around IL-6 molecules present in the sample. After IL-6 binds to pre-coated anti-IL-6 antibodies, a biotinylated secondary antibody and a streptavidin-HRPO conjugate are added sequentially, amplifying the detection signal. A colorimetric reaction using tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) produces a measurable color change proportional to the IL-6 concentration, which is then quantified via optical density readings at 450 nm. This robust and sensitive ELISA method provides a reliable quantitative determination of IL-6 levels, supporting both research and clinical investigations into immune responses, inflammatory diseases, and related pathological processes.
